The EMS professional is trained to handle specific protocols that are approved by the local doctor. The doctor is the one that eventually oversees the patient’s care in the EMS system and is the one that is most knowledgeable about the patient’s care and how the EMS systems administer the care.

- Paramedic training has a duration time of over one thousand hours.
Each level of EMS first responders receiving training that gives them the skills to perform varying task that assist the patient. All EMS providers must hold a CPR certificate before training. After training has been completed, the trainee must be able to conduct all the necessary actions for emergency situations.
