The student has to begin at the basic EMT level of training, which comprises of one hundred and twenty hours of training. In this basic level training, the student will be able to grasp all of the skills and knowledge needed to take the state of Utah’s EMT basic certification examination. Most of the approved EMT training schools hire their instructors from fire departments, hospitals and EMS agencies to give the highest grade of training that is possible.

The EMT basic level training program has a duration time of about four months and as little as three months. The student will go on ambulance rides and do clinical work to prepare them for the examination required at the end of training. The ambulance rides and clinical work are all supervised by working EMTs and Paramedics.

Some of the training in the EMT program includes childbirth care, cardiology, trauma, physiology, airway obstruction management, respiratory care, handling hazardous material, stabilizing and assessing the patient, perform CPR, take the patient’s vital signs, operating the ambulance and legal issues that pertain to the EMS.

EMT Certification Utah

The EMT basic level course is an entry level certified course in the state of Utah. The training curriculum and material are administered by the Department of Transportation in the state of Utah.

The EMT intermediate course is a little more advanced than the basic level course. Students will learn more life support measures and how to administer them. The EMT Intermediate course usually last for six hundred hours.

The Paramedic level of training is more advanced than the basic and intermediate level where training lasts for over 1100 hours.
