In the state of Nebraska, first responders have to take the approved training courses and become both licensed and certified. This means they have to complete two individual applications. It is two separate certification processes. There are two types of first responders, namely non-transporting and transporting.
The only way that you can pursue a career as an EMT or a Paramedic in the state of Nebraska is to take and pass the EMT training course approved by the state. The student must already have a valid CPR certificate issued by the state of Nebraska.
Like other states, the state of Nebraska requires that all Paramedic and EMTs who are seeking certification must take and successfully pass the National Registry exam. Passing this examination will allow the student to not only become certified by state level, but also nationally as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic. The exam is computerized and can only be taken at authorized testing centers across the state.

The basic training includes skills related to assessing patients, stabilizing patients and providing cardiac and respiratory assistance.
